{snippets..} of our weekend..

We had an action packed weekend as far as the backyard goes.. It included digging out our, not so successfu,l yet incredibly adorable potatoes..



The heavy machinery was out to help us dig out soil.. level and put in a retaining wall..



Ear muffs were required at times..



And a little decorating by ducktail hunky..

{easter}..

Easter has came and gone and I'm technically still on my Easter break but had to pop-in and say hi..

We had a wonderful break with the family just hanging out, doing easter things, eating far too much chocolate and just being us. We caught up with lots of beautiful friends both from Adelaide and my gorgeous friend Shan and her family from Melbourne.. We took a trip to the country, fed cows, rode on tractors, got grubby and just absorbed the simple pleasures..

Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things next week after a 'me' day with 'the gals' of the adult variety tomorrow so off to the hairdresser for me today..

{let's do 52} with paint the moon.. this is week 17

{let's do 52} week 13.. connect + tools

Last week I took Ella to the Palaeontology Week Exhibition at the South Australian Museum, and I must say I was super impressed by their interactive display for kids. We left it to last, so she was a bit over it and a bit tired but still got into digging and discovering bones and fossils in the pits.

I didn't take my slr so this is just an iPhone snap, but fits into this weeks theme perfectly for me.. finding dinosaur bones using special TOOLS and then trying to CONNECT the pieces..

Ok.. this week's theme is quite simple. Ella has learnt how to write her name and is literally writing it everywhere.. I just love watching how the shape of each letter changes as she perfects it.

This is just a quick iPhone snap of one of her scribbles.. I've added a texture and framed it with Paint the Moon's frame.

I've missed a couple of weeks of the let's do 52 project.. but this week I got reinspired by the gorgeous Carly from Carly Webber Photography and her amazing new blog Mamma-Razzi. Carly gave us a BOKEH challenge.. how could I resist!!

I took the slr to the park to one of Ella's friend's parties and snapped away a little. I really suck at taking photos of kids but like any mumma, I want lots of pics of my kiddo's. I do good with subjects that don't move, don't talk and are generally cooperative, but kids.. OMG.

So here is my attempt at UP and BOKEH..
The first image is straight out of the camera and the bottom image has been quickly edited with a couple of actions from Paint the Moon..

Easy choice for this week.. my Aries/Ox..
Many health issues.. faar too many injuries and a sister that could drive the best of us nuts..
This little man has the strength of an Ox, pushes through it all and seeps all he can out of life..

I really should have done a macro this week, but I couldn't resist this photo.. 

It was taken a couple weeks back when Zaccy was hired for a 'hillbilly' photo shoot.. I of course snuck in a few photos of my little man in his little overalls made for him for the day by his auntie G.. hence the choice for this weeks theme.. handmade..

{let's do 52} week 6.. obsession + hearts

Just a little run down on this photo..
{1} it was a crappy photo from my iPhone
{2} the reason I chose it was that my little man is completely in love with his chuggington train set he got for christmas, so the photo fits the theme very well
{3} I used a range paint the moon's actions, touched it up a lot and finished it off with Moxie - Suede and then framed it with paint the moon's before and after frames..

I thought I'd share the before and after shot.. I used paint the moon's actions and a texture on this image and it just did the trick.. The reason I chose this image for the theme delicate was because it describes my little girls personality perfectly.. she is a delicate soul, she has simply delicate features and she is my little delicate treasure..

While tossing up which path to take as far as my business.. I've started playing with what I already know, what I love and what makes me chill.. I joined in with Paint the Moon's Let's do 52 project a couple of weeks back. I've talked about Pain the Moon before in the past as far as actions go, but Annie is just super cool as far as inspiring all us photographers, budding, professional and just happy snappers.

I have a heap of her actions, textures and templates and I thought this would be a great little gentle kick up the butt to start playing around with them and commit myself to something for the year that is just for me..
