{in my studio} stencils..

Big week this week as I finish off designs that I've either been working on for ages or have been floating around in my head and needed to get out. Then its time to get all the different tees out and match them with designs and print, print, print so they are ready for a photoshoot early July, that I have booked with the lovely Koroli from Memorable Moments Photography. I'm so excited, I can hardly concentrate on the work that needs to be done.

So to keep me motivated.. here is a sneak peek at a stencil of one of the designs that will be a part of the new "tattoo" range.

{in my studio..} spool rack..

OK.. so I keep talking about this {project studio}.. well its a project alright!! It involves a lot of steps and a lot of reshuffling of our life as it is. It involves finishing my hubby's workspace so he can move out of our back room, it will then involve me gutting out the room, re-lining it with new walls, putting in new flooring and then setting it all up.

So needless to say its not a weekend project by any means. Its a good couple of months away, but thats ok. I have a heap of planning to do and I'm loving gathering ideas for my space. A space that will be my own. A space that will be amazing and I'll love working in.

Pinterest has been a god send for inspiration. I've found some amazing sewing spaces and studios. Have a sneak peak at my little collection of pins if you like.

One of the things that leaped out at me.. and I mean LEAP (like a massive bullfrog type of leap), was the wall mounted spool holder. Oh how I hate hunting around for the right colour and how I hate unstacking my current spool boxes.

So despite the fact that my room won't be ready for me to physically hang one of these up for a while, I started hunting.. and I found this little guy. He is now on the way to my house and will get a lovely coat of white before he enters the studio.

my creative space..

a little calm has came back to my creative space this week.. it looked like a little factory here for a while.. screen printed t-shirts drying.. pants, skirts, cushion covers and hair accessories.. lined up ready to be packaged and shipped off..

the universe has a little way of telling me to stop sometimes and this week it did.. everything that can be out the door and in the post is.. and with a little delay in the delivery of the next round of t-shirts to be screened.. i can catch up on a bit of paperwork and emails and tidy up and update my etsy shop a little.. the computer has barely been turned on the last couple of weeks so i think tonight it might get a little attention..

have a great week everyone.. get inspired by other creative spaces here..

Still chugging along with screen printing a heap of custom orders, cutting new stencils, finishing off new designs.. I am so loving the support I am getting from my beautiful customers and loving being able to do what I love.. thank you!!

This week has been about learning how to use my new serger which I am incredibly in love with.. finishing off skirts and pants.. which have used metres and metres of bias binding and string for piping.. above is a new take on the kasiabear Lelly Lou skirt.. loving this fabric!!

a big week of screen printing so far at the kasiabear headquarters.. catching up on orders slowly but surely.. there is just something special about playing around with paint.. kind of makes me feel like a kid again..

a big thank you to those few customers who have pre-ordered tee's with designs that are not even on paper yet.. just in my head. it's really the biggest compliment i could get, knowing that you trust in my work without even seeing it first.. thank you!!

at my house..

It's all about organisation at our place at the moment.. it looks like a small bomb has hit outside as everything is getting a good scrub and a new home.. me being the 'king pin' as my hubby refers to me.. I am in charge of the family and all the happenings around here. This also means organising everyone and running a huge to-do list.. hmmm..

Well seeing there are four beings in the house and only one 'king pin' I need everything on paper as the baby brain has now turned to mumma brain and not much stays in there.. the sleep deprivation doesn't help either.. but hey.. that's life..

I picked up some clip boards at officeworks the other day and they now have a new home in our laundry with a personal to-do list for each being.. I have school enrolments, activity enrolments, doctor checkups, dentist visits etc all listed and as they get booked they go into the diary.. the system is working great so far.

I think a few more of these will need to make their way to my house for when my little workspace is all set up for orders, invoices etc..

I am putting up with a very very sore back today, shooting pains down my leg and the works, so trying to get a few little things ticked off the to-do list till my magical chiro makes my body work again..

With a couple of wholesale orders and over 30 t-shirts to print in the next week.. I am tweaking my printing board a little and putting in these new clamps which have been waiting patiently for me for a couple of months now.

It's all about the finishing touches and packaging in the kasiabear creative space at the moment.. with Christmas creeping up, I'm getting all those predictable things ready and organised so when the Christmas rush comes around I can just focus on what needs doing, making and organising.

Such a nice thing to do with kids around too.. meaning we can sit around the table.. they can do their arts and crafts and I can do a little bit of work while being right there and spending time with them.

my creative space..

This week has certainly been a creative one as far as my little monkeys are concerned.. but my creative space has been a bit more productive as far as numbers.. letters and words are concerned.

I was very excited to get my new iPhone last week.. only to discover I had to get a new operating system for my mac so that they would be friends.. so needless to say.. my little workhorse has been at the docs and is now a lean, mean, working machine again.. and is now mates with his new counterpart.. the iPhone.. far out!! I thought kids were hard..

Another fun little thing I have been up to.. seeing there is no Australian standard for clothing sizing as such, I have been trying to come up with a sizing chart for the kasiabear label.. fun fun, but its almost done so I can actually get creative in my creative space..

So hence the pic of the jelly... my most creative bit of work for the week.. jelly animals we tried to make with the kids.. which just turned out as red jelly blobs and tasted rather delicious..

till next week.. get inspired over at kootoyoo...

Patterns.. Patterns.. Patterns.. thats what it's all about at the moment in kasiabear's creative space.. my dressmaking teacher has inspired me to play with patterns.. break some rules and create something which is really me.. so that's what I'm doing.

In saying that.. I picked up a Japanese Pattern Design book whilst in Melbourne and it has some gorgeous inspirational pieces in it.. I've been trying to decipher the processes and the patterns.. but other than the shape of the piece.. I think it will remain as an inspiration and a book which is just nice to look at.

stop and smell the roses..

I've been enjoying playing with new pattern designs of late.. creating things that have been in my head for ages and using some fabrics which have been waiting patiently in boxes. kasiabeardesigns is my little creative outlet which combines so many of the things I love, and its nice to finally get a bit of structure in our household to be able to focus on something of mine.

I really hate the saying 'stop and smell the roses', probably only because I don't like roses.. but I try whenever I can to, stop and look at my world through the eyes of a child, to notice all the little details, the textures, the colours, the shapes and the natural beauty.

Being a very visual person, I used to, once upon a time, take photos of everything that made me smile and then things got busy, our babies came along and.. and.. and.. I really could write a whole thesis on why our lives became busy, but its getting late. So instead I'll share something that made me smile in the midst of doing something I love.. double positive really.

The different colours in the thread and pins, intertwined with one another were just beautiful in my eyes.. the textures so different... they made me smile..

project studio...

After a very productive couple of weeks.. I can happily say that the kasiabear studio is happening.. slowly but it is.. I now have almost a pallet of bricks for a little border and patio area in front of the shed.. the area is cleared.. shed is cleaned out and I now have the coolest looking rainwater tank to collect water off the shed.. here are some progress pics..
