{snippets..} of our weekend..

We had an action packed weekend as far as the backyard goes.. It included digging out our, not so successfu,l yet incredibly adorable potatoes..

The heavy machinery was out to help us dig out soil.. level and put in a retaining wall..

Ear muffs were required at times..

And a little decorating by ducktail hunky..

How was your weekend?

{snippets} from the weekend.. feeling blessed..

I spent a lot of time reflecting this weekend as we went to a 5th birthday party. The little man that was celebrating his 5th birthday, was the same boy celebrating his 3rd Birthday two years ago when we dropped Ella off at his party and I gave birth to my little bubba boy 2hrs later. It's my little bubba boy's 2nd birthday tomorrow and all I can think is.. WOW.. what an amazing two years.

My heart feels warm and fuzzy for a few special reasons.. a girlfriend of mine who I met at mums group 4 years ago has moved back to Adelaide, my little man is turning 2 and I am feeling incredibly blessed at how many wonderful people we have in our lives.. I've been working on a little photo collage for Zaccy's birthday and all these wonderful memories are flooding back..

What special things did you get up to on the weekend?

{snippets} from the weekend.. a ton of sand..

Finally.. a weekend where we didn't have to go anywhere, be anywhere and we could just get on with our stuff. The weather is cooling down, flies are dying off and I love being outdoors more than any other time during the year. The grass is getting green, the almond tree is dropping its leaves to let in more sun into our backyard and in general.. I just love autumn.

The big boy took off early on Saturday morning to get a couple of little jobs done and came back with a trailer load of sand.. yep.. a ton of sand.. literally. It took almost the rest of the day to get it moved to the backyard and a heap of belly laughs too. The kids were just having a ball. They played in the trailer, they had wheelbarrow rides and just loved the whole process of filling their little pit with sand. And mumma is overjoyed as its in direct view of the kitchen window so I can get on with things as the kids run a muck.

Today we continued on the backyard blitz and just hung out together as a family. I've been trying to clear out a heap of orders and move forward with a few projects I've been working on both at home and kasiabear wise so my online presence has been a little limited. It's amazing how much one can get done when the computer is off..

So although running a little late, this week I'm grateful..
{1} for the empty days in the diary just to enjoy everyday life..
{2} for gloriously sunny days that are not too hot..
{3} for the lack of flies..
{4} for belly laughs that i get from watching my monkeys..
{5} for my hubby who spontaneously buys a ton of sand for the kids..
{6} for fairy dresses, cowboy boots & Ella wearing them simultaneously..
{7} for the gorgeous girls who i've collaborated with this week..
{8} for maxabella loves for grateful saturdays..

It's technically still the weekend as its a public holiday here today and we're off to another birthday party in a minute.. Ella my little social butterfly gas a party to go to each weekend for the next 5 weeks..

We've already been to a party at a fairy place with Lell.. Me and hunky toured the fruit and veg shops of Glenelg and bought a bunch of grapes at each one.. while we waited. Then to another party in the evening..

Sunday we gardened all day.. dad and the kiddos set up an area for a herb garden for me and I pottered and weeded.. Bliss..

Anyhoo.. I'm off to a party..

{snippets} from the weekend.. my baby is four..

We are all officially exhausted after a big huge week of celebrating my little tiny baby angel turning four. So exhausted infact that my little princess is hanging out with me today as she's feeling a little flat..

On Saturday we had her birthday party at one of the cool new playgrounds near our place. She shared her My little angel dressed up as Harmony from the Fairies and celebrated with family friends, friends from her childcare and mums group.  I'll do a separate post on her party soon.. just a little pre-occupied looking after my girl today..

Sunday we chilled.. really chilled. We blocked out the world and enjoyed our family... pure bliss!!

Another action jackson weekend.. In a nutshell..
Saturday was boring.. household work.. kids trying to kill each other in one form or another.. Predominantly the larger one trying to either poison the small one by feeding him bubble mixture or jumping on his head while in the trampoline.. But in the end all survived.
The big boy bought home a big bucket of pears and I picked some figs off the next door neighbours tree that hangs generously over our fence..
In the evening when the kiddo's slept I got to watch the most amazing thing.. baby fish hatching out of their eggs. Now for those that know us.. you will know that my hubby is somewhat fish obsessed and we have far too many of them for a suburban house. Really we do!! He also works in the field and looks after some spectacular tanks. So needless to say, I've seen some amazing fish, corals and other swimming things come and go.. but I've never seen baby fish hatching.. omg.. so damn cute. If you have ever seen 'finding nemo'.. they wiggle exactly the same as on the film.
Sunday was filled to the brim.. A 4th birthday party at THE most fantastic park.. complete with splashing pool, a path that is kind of a waterfall that fills a reservoir that supposedly has fish in it. Playgrounds galore, walks galore & rotundas galore.  It was packed with people all celebrating something or another.
We got there a little late due to hunky's marathon effort sleep, and as soon as the word yabby popped out of someone's mouth the boys were off.. they do this vanishing act often. The walked around the lake/reservoir thing and just hung out. They have a real thing going on at the moment. Me and Ells did the social thing.. we chatted, ate chocolate fudge cupcakes and soaked up the party end of the park.
While at the same park we also ventured across to join in with another celebration.. well, a farewell really but all for a good reason. One of the loveliest people who just happened to be Ella's teacher before Ella moved into Kidy is leaving this week for QLD. Its so sad to see her go, but she's moving to be with the love of her life, so all I can do is wish her the best of luck for her new chapter in life..
We then drove past the park where my gorgeous girl will be having her 4th birthday party next week. We hung out there for a while, visited the ducks & chased the seagulls..

{snippets} from the weekend..

Another weekend done and dusted.. I think I must seriously be getting older and older, as time seems to go so much quicker than ever before..

We had a lovely weekend of family and building. We finally finished off the little project that was started a few weeks back..  We converted an old wardrobe into a little aviary/large bird cage for our little cockatiel buddies Bob and Charlie. They've been with us for quite a while and due to their ridiculously loud whistles, kind of got banished to the back room. So something had to change.. and now it has.. they have a new home under the verandah so they can be a part of our family again.

Zaccy loves these feathered little guys and spent most of Sunday just chatting to them. He has learned to count.. 7, 8, 9, 10.. (not sure where the 1, 2, 3 etc is yet) so I'm thinking Charlie might be counting soon too. By the way.. Bob is a girl.. we only found this out when she laid an egg (4 years after we got her).

Preparations have started for my Ella's Birthday Party as well.. Invitations have gone out and my little princess is super excited.. we're counting down the sleeps (approximately 236 times a day)..

I'm running a bit late with my weekend post this week.. for a very good reason though.. My dear primary school friend who now lives in QLD, was in Adelaide with her family for a quick visit, so we headed down to her in-laws house with the kiddos this morning and joined in. Oh how I miss having her around.. but on the good note, its just so lovely to see our kids, who only see each other once a year or so, get along so beautifully. Love you my sweet!!

What did you get up to on the weekend?

This year is seriously going far too fast for me already.. another weekend gone and so much to absorb its hard to know where to start. We had another awesome weekend that I'd love to bottle up. The perfect balance between household chores, family time, work, catchups with friends and I even managed to sneak in a (kidless) trip to the Grange Twilight Market and dinner out with a friend.

The kids are at that incredibly gorgeous stage where almost everything they do I just melt and say 'omg.. could you seriously get any cuter?' Hmm... yes there is a incy-wincy bit of cluckiness going on.

{week-a-boo} bowling + building..

Another action jackson weekend.. Mother nature was lovely and turned down the heat a little in Adelaide..

My weekend started off on a day with my boy on Friday.. He got his grommet put back in early morning and we were home by 10:30am.. Again the effects were instant!! Zaccy sang and danced all Friday.. We played with water outside most of the day trying to stay cool and just hung out. I am just so incredibly blessed to be able to spend a solid day with one kiddo at a time. Its pure quality and I love it!!

Saturday was all systems go.. We continued with our building projects outside while the kids slowly emptied the soil out of pot plants (as you do).. My brother popped in so the kiddos got some uncle time and terrorised his car yet again..

Sunday was family day.. We braved the bowling alley for a 4th birthday. All the other mums did the sensible thing of leaving the smaller sibling at home.. but not us.. no.. not us.. The big boy's nerves were shot. Being a bowler {yes.. i have a smirk on my face} himself, he was all paranoid about kids ruining the lanes with street shoes, yada, yada.. I promise I didn't laugh too loudly and I only rolled my eyes a few times. No.. really, it was cool and Zaccy enjoyed the actual bowling far more than Ells did. She just hung out in the Daytona car most of the time till the birthday cake came out. Yep.. that's my girl.

{week-a-boo} it was a hot one...

God bless our air-conditioner and my handy andy hubby who just manages to keep it going and going.. although it really probably should be replaced. The old boy kept us cool in this hideous heat however (the air-conditioner not the hubby). I like lovely sunny days.. but once it gets over 35degC, I start wingeing like a toddler and turn into a sloth.. eeek!!
when cabin fever sets in..
whiteboard markers replace lipstick..
Moving on to the highlights.. we spent the days inside and it was nice to chill and not have any major events on.. I started on my softies for QLD project.. Ella also picked out some fabric so I could make her one and one for Zaccy too. They're about half way there but looking damn cuute!!

Another big big highlight was visiting one of our friends in hospital and meeting their new bubba boy.. oh my he is just too cute for words. I got to meet him on Thursday but just had to sneak in another visit..
There is something cool about hospitals when you are there for good reasons.. there is so much art installations, artwork, chill out areas.. here are some I just had to take a pic of..
the kids and boys trying to find the local koala..
no luck this time..

there were a little family of bubba ducks too..

thank you Trish!!

{week-a-boo} a sneak peak into our weekend..

What a gorgeously eclectic weekend.. We did the house hold type stuff that sadly must happen every week.. but then we got into a little bit of building.. of the bird aviary variety.. more on that as the project develops.. but in short, we are converting an old wardrobe into an aviary..

Here are a few snaps of the weekend adventures.. There are so many more to download from my camera.. but for now the iPhone ones will just have to do the trick..

We hung out in our backyard.. and hunky can now reach all the swinging equipment solo.. he just loves it and maaaan.. he is strong.. he just hangs and hangs and spins and hangs some more..

The photo just doesn't do it justice.. one of the most hilarious things in the world to watch.. its like an amusement ride.. they both spin each other around.. soo cute..

watch out world.. daddy's making hair clips.. well if only to calm a small girl out of histeria from braking a hair clip (which she never wears mind you).. but hey.. if he can make her wear them.. then I'm all for it..
the fridge lock has failed.. a new one will have to be reinstalled..
cheeky monkey!!

the little man now eats big boy pancakes..
my hunky spunky was adopted out to the hillbillies for a photoshoot.. my god he looked adorable as a little hillbilly..
and even ells snuck in a pic with miss m..
at least someone is sun smart in the family..
and we ended the weekend with sandy chips on the beach..
mmmm.. sand!!

{week-a-boo} point + shoot..

This weekend was a bit of an ordinary one in many different ways.. good and bad. Funnily enough I started this blog in August of 2009 as a place to write positive things about motherhood whilst going through PND.. it was even called 'the love of motherhood' for a while. Things calmed down and when I launched kasiabear I felt that this should be my little space to write things for me (hence 'kasiabear.. a little bit of me') and also something for my kids to have a little look at when they grow up.. Strange thing is that I don't think I have ever mentioned or written about PND on this blog.

I'm still not quite up for the challenge to write about it, but in short it was a crappy weekend as far as PND.. the floods in QLD got me down so I just sank into my family. The big boy was home for the whole weekend which was nice, meaning I got to do a bit of fun stuff in the kitchen for us and the kiddos, like making heart shaped toast, jelly, banana ice-cream and potato fritters.

We hung out... I got massages from the kids.. we watched telly.. we did a bit of gardening and started planning out our back yard as far as veggie patch, chook shed, plants, trees etc...

Feeling much more refreshed now.. so here's to a nice week ahead..

{week-a-boo} point + shoot..

Minor heart attack started off the weekend for me.. I popped my computer on to link up my {grateful saturday} post as I tend to write a few of my posts on the iPhone these days and my good old trusty mac was doing some weird shite.. as it was possessed or something. It took a little bit but the culprit was the mouse pad. Some little cherub had placed something large on my electronic baby and squished it.. Nothing a husband with a butter knife can't fix. Sometimes I think I have waaay too much trust in my hubby's 'mr fix-it' abilities, but I was willing to give anything a try.. and thank my lucky starts it's all good and well in the world of the macbook yet again.

A bit of a ho-hum Saturday really. The weather was odd and it rained a little and our little princess doesn't love the rain so the verandah got boring pretty quickly. Zaccy learned how to open the back door so going in and out of the house was his #1 game for the day.. and oh my, the amount of flies he let in.. oh my.. I just don't want to go there. Highlight of the day for me would have to be the three monkeys (1xBIG + 2xSML) doing star jumps together.. too funny and big belly laughs for me.

The house was filled with sounds of American football on telly, kids playing with the chuggington set Zaccy got for christmas, then animal sounds made by the kids whilst playing with the enormous schleich animal set that resides in our house and then happy sounds from the kids laptops as mummy did some work on her computer.

We had a little peek into Ellas baby box where I stash her special little treasures for her to have when she grows up like her first nappy.. Christening gown.. First shoes.. First Christmas decoration and so on.. She loves looking through it and it's a real treat for both of us. Each time we look through it everything seems so much smaller..

My big bro is back from the UK so it's a real bonus to have him pop in.. He's a full on novelty to the kids too at the moment.. Zac adores his new little buzz box car and could stay in there pretending to drive it for hours.. Perhaps not the best pass-time during hot weather but hey.. He loves it!!

Dragging any visitor into our 14ft tramp is always a laugh for all involved.. Ella loves showing off her new tricks and her jumps are getting higher and higher each day.

I think Christmas is finally packed away... I love Christmas, the lead up to it, shopping for pressies, holiday crafts, the joy on the kids faces when they receive pressies, the whole Christmas day and the few days that follow as we visit our friends to celebrate but one thing that I hate is the mess and clutter that lingers for a few weeks after. Just when you think you have packed it all away, pulled down the christmas tree out comes a bauble from the kids rooms or a decoration that was pulled off and stashed or a dish that you only use on special occasions that needs you to empty half a cupboard so it can be put away.. But it's done and dusted.. Yippee!!
And last but not least.. Both mumma and daddy snuck in a short nanna nap!! Oh how I love a sleep too up!!

pop over for a sneak peak into some other weekends..

week-a-boo.. a sneak peak into our weekend

now onto our weekend..

All systems go around our place over the weekend with the lead up to christmas.. We had a fab weekend!! We got a lot achieved, the house got blitzed and everything is in its spot and everything we no longer need is out of the house.. woo hoo!! We snuck in a  dinner over at a friends place, we snuck in a trip to the brewery lights again and we hung out on Sunday getting the house ship shape..

I have been meaning to do this for a while and the time seemed right this weekend. I sat down with Ella and explained to her that although we don't have a lot of money and we can't buy everything we want, we are very very lucky to have all the things we do. I explained to her that there are kids out there that miss out on a lot of things, don't have a lot of toys etc.. It was a simple explanation as I wanted her to just start getting the concept of it all and she did.. We cleaned out both the kids rooms and got a big bag for all the toys they no longer use.

I am going to go through it today and pick out the toys in really good shape and donate them to our local Salvation Army and the slightly run down stuff goes to the kids child care centre so they can get a little bit of joy out of the toys before they hit the trash..

Here are a few snaps from our weekend.. hope you had a great one too!!

here are a few pics by ella.. omg.. i so love these pics!!
