wordless wednesday..

ok... this little face painting session started about midday as i was outside hanging out the washing.. it's so wordless wednesday as i don't really know what to say.. i'm still laughing!!

ella just wanted to paint her babies faces like hers was at bunnings on fathers day..

pop past faith, hope and a whole lotta love for some more wordless wednesday pics..
ps.. paint washes off dolls faces pretty easily

kiddy art..

a couple of years back i painted one of our little walls with blackboard paint..
it was for the purpose of a communication board and
so the kids could draw on walls.. well one wall..
it is seriously the best thing ever.. it gets used all the time..
for adult scribbles, for hanging up of artowrk and
for little iddy biddy hands to draw masterpieces on..

point + shoot..

its been another rainy weekend.. so we did a few fun rainy day activities with the munchkins.. we got the torches out and darkened my little mans room and the kids ran around making patterns on the walls and danced around.. these are literally point and shoot pics as i was laughing faar to much to concentrate on changing the camera settings.. but all in all some fun results as far as pics go..

week-a-boo..

Its been another productive, full and fun filled week over at the kasiabear household..

Mondays is my work day where I squeeze in as much as I possibly can while the kiddies are off at kindy hanging out with their buddies.. this week it was all about wood and boy stuff. The big boy bought home literally a truckload of wood he has been salvaging from a house which will soon be knocked down completely. So needless to say it needed to find a home out of the way.. so that was me on Monday.. lugging and sorting 3-4m lengths of jarrah and other heavy wood.. ouch!!

Tuesday is my work free day where I focus on my little monkeys and monkeys only.. we went along to junior-gym where I caught up with a couple of our mums group girls and wore out the kiddies at the same time.. then we hung out.. did some art.. some painting.. some play-dough sculptures.. played with five metres of bubble wrap and a box.. picked the last few oranges off our tree.. we ate jelly.. we weeded some of the flower beds, it was a nice, simple fun filled day really..

Wednesday is mummy and Ella day where I get my little princess all to myself and we do girl stuff.. the morning started off with girl-power action in dads workspace.. cleaning up after the drop off of wood and organising him a little.. then we went on a little adventure to ikea with Ella's friend Em... had ice cream, then I hung out with Em and Chloe while their ma picked up Mr T and then I got to have a coffee with a bit of grown up conversation thrown in.. Then off to get our bubba boy..

Thursday is mummy and Zaccy day where I get my hunky spunky little monkey all to myself and we do fun stuff.. It was a miserable day as far as weather goes so we got out almost all the toys a boy would want throughout the day.. we drew with chalk.. we painted.. we made play-dough sculptures again.. we drew.. we stamped and my boy said his first phrase.. plane goes wooooooooo... which just melted my heart.. I love planes and his room has a plane theme going on. My ongoing joke is that he can be anything he wants when he grows up as long as he's a pilot... so anyhow it was just so very sweet and special.

Friday is another work day and in the morning I take off and to my course where at the moment I am working through a few pants patterns and am learning how to alter patterns.. I then had a little stop over at Spotlight to buy some oh-so-pink fabric for a dance costume I am making for a friends daughter.. then a full afternoon of sewing and back to being ma..

Saturday was oh so hideous outside so the rainy day activities came out.. art, art and more art.. bubbles.. play-dough.. chalk.. and a bit of fun with torches making shadow puppets and a light show with the coloured lights... then tents.. and the bag of 100 balls.. and blocks.. The big one made a whole lotta noise outside angle grinding his trailer and we made a whole lotta noise inside with a vacuum cleaner and two swivel sweepers going at the same time.. I so love doing the housework with my babies.. they make it so much fun!! I finished the day off with a trip to the laundromat to dry the six loads of washing I did throughout the day.. it was lovely though.. one of my beautiful friends came along with me.. we got a good take away coffee on the way and we sat back and had a good old chat whilst the washing was going for a spin.

Sunday.. fathers day.. we don't do a great deal in our household to celebrate calendar celebrations, but we still had a beautiful day with dad.. Ella got to go for a spin to Bunnings where she got her face painted and me and Zaccy took off to the bakery to get lunch.. all the art stuff came out again and the angle grinder went for another spin. The big boy had a lovely day.. he got his magnets for his van, he got to sleep in, he got to play with boy tools and he got to spend some quality time with his monkeys..

So here is a little visual of our week..

joining in with scissors paper rock..

fathers day..

in our household we don't make a big thing of the generic calendar holidays or special days such as valentines, mothers day, fathers day etc.. birthdays are the days we put the effort into.. that's just us though..

we do try to do something little and special however and try to keep it to handmade from the heart.. so here is a little selection of goodies the big one gets this year.. oh and of course he gets his sleep in..

these are our little artworks we made at home..
in true truck driving style.. not that my husband drives one anymore
he likes magnets of the family to hang up in the cab
so here are a few magnets we made up with the kids..

a bit of saturday sharing..

a couple of my close friends have just had little baby girls.. which of course made me think about what to make for them.. and then the colours and of course the first one that comes to mind when thinking of a little girl is pink... funny that, as before having my little princess i hated pink and i really mean 'hated'... I specifically told everyone not to buy pink for my little girl and went with red and all things 'lady bug' instead.. but that was me.. and not many people listened so my little girl still got her dose of pink..

my little angel is now three and a half and has her own favourite colours.. which just happen to be pink and purple.. so for all the little girls out there.. i give in.. here is a pink segment on the kasiabear blog..

here are just some of the gorgeous pinkness i found on etsy..

1. Owl Cushion - fongstudio
2. Ring Sling - babyette
3. Beanie - lilycrochet
4. Apple Note Card - novachix
5. Baby Slippers Pattern - sweatpeapatterns

my creative space..

This week has certainly been a creative one as far as my little monkeys are concerned.. but my creative space has been a bit more productive as far as numbers.. letters and words are concerned.

I was very excited to get my new iPhone last week.. only to discover I had to get a new operating system for my mac so that they would be friends.. so needless to say.. my little workhorse has been at the docs and is now a lean, mean, working machine again.. and is now mates with his new counterpart.. the iPhone.. far out!! I thought kids were hard..

Another fun little thing I have been up to.. seeing there is no Australian standard for clothing sizing as such, I have been trying to come up with a sizing chart for the kasiabear label.. fun fun, but its almost done so I can actually get creative in my creative space..

So hence the pic of the jelly... my most creative bit of work for the week.. jelly animals we tried to make with the kids.. which just turned out as red jelly blobs and tasted rather delicious..

till next week.. get inspired over at kootoyoo...

{week-a-boo} point + shoot..

This weekend we had all sorts of weather in Adelaide.. We started Saturday morning with very thick fog and by Sunday afternoon we had glorious sun and spring warmth.. Fog would have to be one of my favorite things following snow.. but the likelihood of snow in Adelaide is pretty slim so I just enjoy the fog when it comes..

The coolest thing about the thick fog that surrounded our whole house this time around was being able to look out the windows (and eventually go out in it) and show the kids. Zac didn't really think anything of it but Ella found it fascinating.. the fact that she couldn't see the houses at the end of our little street that she normally sees and that our eucalyptus tree seemed to disappear into the clouds.. it was great showing her and trying to explain it all..

So here are a few snaps from around our house.. enjoy..

kiddy art..

The paint was out again this week (and again and again.. ) its funny how each time we start of painting.. no matter what happens we end up with handprints.. which I absolutely adore.. these are the little artworks I can never bring myself around to getting rid of.. I have my own little stash.. which at some stage I'll create a little feature wall and frame them all up..

I'd love for you to join in and share your kids love for art
or even some links to fun art ideas or products for kids.

till next week..

the melbourne adventure..

Oh.. it seems like an eternity ago that I said goodbye to my little monkeys when dropping them off to kindy knowing that I wasn't going to see them for almost a week.. It was tough.. very tough.. especially knowing that I was not going to see them for so long, just so I could have a bit of 'me' time and to have a break from my everyday life...  and even more so that I was going to be in another state and that I was taking one of my best friends with me.. who just happens to be the best adopted auntie to my kids ever..

The doubts that go through a mums mind when she does something for herself is just crazy.. I mean I was just going to Melbourne to do a bit of shopping.. enjoy uninterrupted sleep, hot cups of coffee, warm meals and adult conversation with my best buddy.

Well I loved the trip, I loved catching up with a very old friend, I loved the coffee, food, sleep and shopping adventures and I loved the road trip to pick up an antique kitchen mixer bought on eBay and the night drive back at approximately 20km/hour through the hills where fires tore through Victoria a while back and I loved the long conversations into the night with my traveling buddy who can't just be classified as a best friend but a soul mate...

What I loved most was realizing how blessed I am to have the life I do. I have the most amazing children, the most amazing husband and the most amazing friends right here in lil-old-Adelaide. I really don't mind cold coffee, or sleeping in odd positions in my bed so that my daughter is comfortable, or getting up to feed my 1.5yo little guy several times a night, or half eating cold meals, or rushing through the supermarket throwing in items that look mildly appealing to get out of there as fast as I can.

I am lucky enough to not have to return to full time work and to be here for my kids, I am lucky that my kids go to a wonderful kindy that they love giving me a bit of me time each week, I am lucky to be able to spend one on one time with each of my two children once a week so that I can stay connected to where they are up to in their development and I am lucky to be able to do what I love which is create for my kids, my friends and now others.

It is the little things that are important and I guess it was nice to realize that everything I thought I was missing out on, was really not that important to me anymore. I love what I have and I'm content.

Here is a visual of my little journey.. the things that made me smile along the way..
